This bracket as its name suggests, saddles over the pole top and has a hole to accept a spindle, such as a No.4, or a plain bolt for use with a spindle No.13
The two longer sides are each 3¼″ long, drilled to accept two coach bolts. The saddle that rests on the flat top of the pole is 4¼″ end to end. The top of the bracket is 2½″ above the saddle base. Under the saddle is a recess for the spindle retaining nut.
The right hand example, shows a saddle support attached to the saddle bracket, used when the wire pull might be excessive.
